In general, if your comments are respectful, kind, constructive, and on topic, you will be just fine!
Don’t be a jerk
This blog has a very strict comment policy. If you are a jerk, your comments will be deleted and/or you will be banned at our discretion. The basic rule is, “Be thoughtful and kind.”
In order for discussions to thrive here, we need to remember to criticize ideas, not people.
Disrespect, personal attacks and harassment will not be tolerated. Sexist, racist, misogynist, homophobic, and broad, offensive generalizations about groups of people are simply not allowed. Comments or discussions written intentionally to provoke will be removed.
So, remember to avoid:
- threats
- name-calling
- ad hominem attacks
- knee-jerk contradiction
- feeding the trolls
If you see something, say something
Moderators are at the forefront of combating spam, mediating disputes, and enforcing community guidelines and so are you.
If you see an issue, contact the moderators if possible or flag any comments for review.
Stay on topic
Be sure your topic matches the general theme of the post. Off topic posts will be deleted to ensure a good experience for the community. If you have an interesting tangent or related idea to add, make the connection to the topic clear.
No self-promotion
A discussion or comment that contains only a link to your blog, a product, or your article on another site will be removed.
Don‘t copy and paste
If you didn’t write it, or haven’t properly cited the article you’re quoting, don’t post it. This one is easy: Always cite your sources.
English only
We currently only support English language discussions at Novel Narrative. Non-English comments and discussions will be removed as we cannot properly moderate comments in a language we do not understand. Of course, if you need to use other languages to express an idea, just make sure you provide a translation in English so your readers can stay with you.
Other
Novel Narrative reserves the right to delete comments or ban users to keep the comment threads supportive and substantive.
